Maandag 8 mei 2023 – de 78ste Herdenking van de “Dag van de Overwinning voor de Democratie” & 80ste Herdenking van de “Opstand van het Getto van Warschau” in de zaal nabij het “Monument voor de Gedeporteerde Antwerpse Joodse Burgers” te Antwerpen.
O.l.v. Co-voorzitters barones Regina Sluszny-Suchowolski en meester Philippe Scharf met keynotesprekers Professor Baron François ENGLERT (Nobelprijswinnaar – Ondergedoken Kind), Conner Rousseau (Voorzitter Vooruit), Tomas Baum (Directeur Kazerne Dossin) & burgemeester Bart De Wever. Toespraken van de leerlingen die vertelden hoe hun familie de Shoah heeft beleefd: Ella Speaker, Alexander Klein en Ezriel Salamon.

Dit jaar hadden we de eer om als gastspreker Professor Baron François ENGLERT, Nobelprijswinnaar en Ondergedoken Kind, in persoon te mogen ontvangen, hij gaf zijn voordracht in het Engels: ” In Honour of the Righteous ; Memories of a ‘Hidden Child’ ”

My brother and I retrieved the way to school, my brother at the “Université libre de Bruxelles” , I at
l’“Athénée Royal de Koekelberg.” I only realised much later that I could live this apparent normality only by having wiped out my past during the war from my conscious life. The evocation of the extraordinary persons who helped and saved me could not erase the abject violence of Nazism. …”
