"Luxembourg chain pulls Israeli produce" - Largest supermarket chain in the European country caves in to pro-Palestinian protests and pressure - Itamar Eichner - Ynetnews

Luxembourg's largest supermarket chain, Cactus, had decided to halt the sale of produce until its supplier finds proof that its origin is not the West Bank.

The chain's management caved in to pressure by the pro-Palestinian organization Comité pour une Paix Juste au Proche-Orient, which held noisy demonstrations at the chain's stores, claiming that they sold products from settlements.

The protests continued for months, until managers acquiesced and wrote to the group that it was suspending the sale of Israeli produce.

The chain's management said income from Israeli produce is minimal and is not worth the annoyance to customers caused by protests. ...

'Misfired Hamas rockets' killed children in Gaza - The Times UK - Abeer Ayyoub and Tom Coghlan - March 26 2015

A rocket salvo that killed 11 Gazan children and hit a hospital on a Muslim religious holiday was the work of Palestinian militants hitting their own people, a report has found, in a damning indictment of Hamas's conduct during last summer's war with Israel.

The explosion at the Al-Shati refugee camp on July 28, which killed the children buying sweets on the first day of Eid ul Fitr, was the result of misfired rockets by Hamas, Amnesty International concluded.

Hamas blamed Israel for the bombing at the time, but a relation of one of dead child said that Palestinian militants went to the scene and tried to hide the evidence of their involvement.

"I saw the body of the rocket [and] I knew it was a local one," the family member told The Times. "Some people came and hid it on the spot — however, it was really hot."

He said that he held Hamas, as governors of Gaza, responsible but that no one from the group had ever visited the family or apologised. Two adults also died and another 19 were injured. ...

"Proposal to rename Prague station after Sir Nicholas Winton" - The JC.com

Prague's main railway station could be named after Sir Nicholas Winton, the "British Schindler" who saved the lives of 669 Jewish Czech children from the Nazis during the Second World War.

Sir Nicholas died aged 106 last week. He was responsible for rescuing the children before they were sent to concentration camps.

"BDS in Ireland: Shops nix Israeli goods, but fine with N. Korean, Iranian products" - 30 Jun 2015

Ami Horowitz, an American Jewish satirist, released a video on Tuesday of a report from Ireland, "ground zero" of the BDS movement.

What happens when Irish store owners are faced with a choice between engaging in commerce with Israel or doing business with regimes like North Korea, Iran, and Sudan?

Ami Horowitz, an American Jewish satirist, released a video on Tuesday of a report from Ireland, "ground zero" of the BDS movement, in which the locals are adamant about not carrying Israeli products but are perfectly agreeable to help the economies of despotic regimes.

"The boycotting of Israel is an insidious, noxious movement that needs to be fully exposed to the public," Horowitz told Fox News commentator Sean Hannity. "BDS supporters are less human rights advocates and more anti-Israel bigots. I wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase that bigotry on a global platform." ...

Brussels Philharmonic chief violist Nathan Braude says receiving request to join BDS initiative 'feels horrible'

Belgian-Israeli musician says he was pressured to sign an open letter declaring he supported the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel. He refused to do so.

According to an entry Monday in the Slipped Disc blog, Nathan Braude, principal viola player for the Brussels Philharmonic and professor of viola at the Royal Conservatory Ghent, was sent a request to sign the letter in support of the boycott initiative by a professor at Ghent University, along with a list of those who had already signed.

Braude told "Slipped Disc" in an email: "I read your blogs regarding the Israel boycott very seriously; today I had a personal encounter with this. And trust me, it feels horrible."

I received an email on my Conservatory email address from a colleague, asking me to join the boycott against Israel. . ...
